Tree Stump Listening Device

1970s, CIA

This solar powered concealment device was used to intercept radar & communications signals. US intelligence designed the device to look like a tree stump and then planted it in a wooded area near Moscow. Why? A bug inside eavesdropped on radar and communications from a nearby Soviet airbase.
