Museum AV Technician

The International Spy Museum is a private nonprofit museum dedicated to educating the public about the world of espionage and intelligence through exhibits, educational programs, special events, and public outreach. Summary

Employee will assist in the management and maintenance of the Museum’s IT and AV infrastructure. A key part of this position is to proactively maintain interactive and exhibit related equipment to include PC’s, projectors, monitors, touchscreens, RFID hardware, microphones, and other AV equipment. This position will serve as the first point of contact for tasks relating to exhibit technology repairs and maintenance. The preferred candidate should have a focus on customer service, exhibit strong verbal communication skills, and have a proven work ethic both in a team environment and individually.

Responsibilities

  • Provide preventative maintenance to museum projectors and interactives.
  • Replace monitors, touchscreens, projectors, PC’s, and RFID hardware in Museum exhibit.
  • Troubleshoot one-of-a-kind interactive exhibits to maintain a functioning exhibit.
  • Spec, set up and configure Windows PC’s used in interactive exhibits.
  • Support and troubleshoot networked audio, video, RFID hardware and interactive PC’s.
  • Assist with basic software installations and support.
  • Open the museum using a daily AV checklist, assist in closing the museum as needed.
  • Provide support for theater, event room and portable AV systems.
  • Deliver monthly reports to supervisor. 

Education and Experience Required

  • Associate degree or A+, Net+ and/or MCITP Certification.
  • Minimum 4 years AV and/or desktop support experience.

Skills Preferred

  • Experience with QSYS, Medialon, Black Magic, Watchout, and Brightsign.
  • Knowledge in the use of MIDAS mixing consoles.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of audiovisual systems including but not limited to projectors, touchscreens, monitors, microphones, and mixers.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex networked audiovisual systems and one-of-a-kind interactives.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and individually.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Special Considerations

Must have the ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
